Steve Busby received his doctorate from Oxford University and then moved to the Pasteur Institute in Paris, where he became interested in bacteria and how they organise and regulate their genes. Since moving back to the UK in 1983, Steve and his colleagues have made contributed to our understanding of transcription initiation and gene activation in bacteria, as well as developing new methodologies to study global regulation. He has produced over 200 original research articles and a score of seminal reviews. Steve was elected FRS in 2005 and is currently Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham.

Y. George Zheng works in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Georgia, U.S.A. He also holds appointments with Center for Drug Discovery and Department of Chemistry at UGA. His laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms and functions of key epigenetic modification enzymes and develops bioactive molecules for therapeutic innovation. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Heart Association and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Dr. Zheng’s research is in the area of enzymology, medicinal chemistry and chemical biology. His lab contributed significantly to the molecular understanding of protein posttranslational modifications, with a focus on acetylation and methylation. He is a Georgia Cancer Coalition’s Distinguished Scholar. He has published more than 60 papers in peer reviewed journals and edited one book on epigenetics.

Albert Jeltsch is awarded PhD in Biochemistry from the Institute of Biophysical Chemistry at Hannover Medical School in the 1994 – 1998. He holds a Diploma in biochemistry at the Department of Chemistry, from University of Hannover in the year 1992-1994. He was the lecturer of Biochemistry "C2" at the Institute of Biochemistry at the Justus-Liebig University, Giessen from 2003 to 2006. He was the Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the International University Bremen for years 2006-2011. Currently, he is working as a Full Professor of Biochemistry at the Jacobs University Bremen. He is a scholar of the Foundation of the German people from 1992 to 1994. He has received Fellow of the Fonds of the Chemical Industry 1997 Research Award of the Justus-Liebig University in 1999. He has also won Gerhard Hess prize of the German research Foundation (DFG) in the year 2001 and BioFuture price of the Federal Minister for research and Education (BMBF).

Mohammed El-Mezgueldi is awarded PhD in Biochemistry from the University Montpellier I in the year 1995. He holds a Master Degree in DEA (MSc), from the University Montpellier I in the year 1990. He was a visiting fellow for 6 months in East Virginia Medical school, USA. Currently, he is working as a lecturer in Protein Science, Department of Biochemistry at the University of Leicester in U.K.

Boris A Shenderov is a physician, Professor of Microbiology, Immunology and Virology (1979), an Active Member of New-York Academy of Science (1996). Now-days, he lives and works as a main Researcher at the MRIEM after G.N. Gabrichevsky. His main research interest is Medical Microbial Ecology, Genetics of Microorganisms, Probiotics, Functional Foods, Biotechnology. He is an author of more 350 scientific papers, including 10 books, 30 inventions. He was a Member of Executive Board of International Society of Microbial Ecology and Disease (SOMED) (2006-2013); Member of Executive Board & President of International Association of Gnotobiology (IAG) (2008-2014); Member of Russian Society of Microbiology and Epidemiology after I. Mechnikov & a president of this Society (1991-1994).

Crystal Smitherman Rosenberg was awarded her PhD in Chemistry from Georgia State University in 2015. Her graduate work was conducted under Dr. Giovanni Gadda in the field of mechanistic enzymology of flavin-dependent enzymes. She began her professional career as a Research and Development Chemist at Aalto Scientific, LTD in 2015 where she works to develop controls and calibrators for in vitro diagnostics, lyophilization optimization, and scale-up of native and recombinant proteins. In the last year, she has transitioned into Director of Development where she leads product development, product enhancements and product redesign along with evaluating and optimizing scaleup and product transfers from Research and Development to Manufacturing. She was elected to be the 2017 Chair of the Gordon Research Seminar on Enzymes, Coenzymes and Metabolic Pathways held annually in New Hampshire, USA. She has been an on-site organizer for the Southeast Enzyme Conference in Atlanta, Georgia since 2015.

Prof. Jennifer Littlechild, Ph.D., serves as a Member of Scientific Advisory Panel at Aquapharm Biodiscovery Limited. Prof. Littlechild supervises Aquapharm's BBSRC industrial case studentship on biocatalysis and Enzyme Discovery. She has been a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at CO2 Solutions Inc., since June 12, 2014. Prof. Littlechild serves as Director of Exeter Biocatalysis Centre, School of Biosciences, University of Exeter. Prof. Littlechild is College of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Exeter. Prof. Littlechild is a Professor of Biological Chemistry at the University of Exeter. Prof. Littlechild is a world renown specialist in extremophile enzymes and their application in industrial processes. Prof. Littlechild’s research interests cover molecular genetics (site-directed mutagenesis and gene isolation and cloning), protein purification and characterization, and structural analysis by NMR, X-ray crystallography and molecular modelling of new enzymes for biotransformation and drug design.
