Biography
Y. George Zheng works in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, University of Georgia, U.S.A. He also holds appointments with Center for Drug Discovery and Department of Chemistry at UGA. His laboratory investigates molecular mechanisms and functions of key epigenetic modification enzymes and develops bioactive molecules for therapeutic innovation. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Heart Association and American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Dr. Zheng’s research is in the area of enzymology, medicinal chemistry and chemical biology. His lab contributed significantly to the molecular understanding of protein posttranslational modifications, with a focus on acetylation and methylation. He is a Georgia Cancer Coalition’s Distinguished Scholar. He has published more than 60 papers in peer reviewed journals and edited one book on epigenetics.
